Come November, Congress will no longer be a “safe house.” We the people are ready to take out the trash. This will not be any simple house cleaning either. The 2010 election needs to be a “scrub the floor with a toothbrush” spit-shine detail to remove the scum that’s been lining the Congressional hallways for too long. The windows of the Capitol building will sparkle because voters must demand crystal-clear transparency. If in doubt, here are some reasons to vote out your US incumbent:
1. Career politicians – Policy making is no longer dedicating one’s life to public service. These days, life as a Congressional politician is a gravy train: Federal retirement, higher than average salary and unprecedented power over the country. This level of power leads to corruption.
2. Privileged Class – Congress behaves with an elitist mindset. They believe they know what is in the best interest for the “working schmoes” of America. When in reality they cater to special interest groups and big business. The “I Me Mine” mentality has to go. There was no intention to disrespect George Harrison with the previous sentence.
3. Simple mathematics – Apparently, they are incapable of following a budget or creating an accurate forecast. One has to wonder after their recent shopping sprees, can they even add or subtract? What kind of logic dictates spending more money to get out of debt? As Glenn Beck said in his inspiring CPAC speech, “Democrats like to tax and spend, Republicans just like to spend.” Both sides have abused the privilege of America’s trust.
4. Too Many Attorneys – In the US, there is one lawyer for every 265 Americans. Yet, there are more attorneys in Congress than any other profession represented. Over 42 percent of US legislators are lawyers. This could be the reason why the debt is so high because attorneys are famous for padding their bills.
5. Tired of Playing Mommy – Americans rejected the health care plan, TARP, the stimulus, cash for clunkers, and the Cap and Trade bill. Just like insolent children, Congress is fighting amongst themselves not listening to anyone else. Enough is enough, already. Taxpayers expect their legislators to follow the Constitution and do the right thing. All of you deserve a nuclear time out, no reconciliation necessary.
America, get out your brooms and mops. The incumbents are out like yesterday’s garbage. It won’t be recyclable trash, either.
